First Couple inaugurates the 5 Million Trees Planting Program

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajida Mohamed inaugurated the 5 Million Trees Planting Program on the occasion of World Environment Day 2024. The inaugural ceremony was held at Lonuziyaarai Park on Wednesday morning.

The program to plant five million trees across the Maldives is a significant presidential pledge, as announced at COP28.

The President and First Lady were accompanied by the Vice President and his spouse, the Speaker of the Parliament, Ministers, and senior State officials.

According to the President's Office, this initiative reflects the government's commitment to safeguarding the country's fragile ecological systems and mitigating the impact of climate change for the benefit of current and future generations.

At today’s ceremony, the President also launched the logo of the 5 Million Trees Planting Program.
