The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has signed an agreement with the Addu City Council to acquire land for a new garment factory in Addu City.
The agreement was signed on Sunday by BCC's Deputy Managing Director Samih Adam, and Deputy Mayor Mohamed Shuaau on behalf of the Addu City Council.
BCC stated that the new garment factory aims to boost the local economy, create employment opportunities, and reduce imports. The factory will also provide more opportunities for small and medium enterprises in the region.
Addu City used to have a thriving garment factory. However, the factory closed due to lack of government support.
