Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shameem Ali Saeed has said that the Addu City Counciul submitted the best proposal for the Waqf building project in Addu City.
The construction of Waqf buildings in across the Maldives is a key initiative under the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Minister Shaheem on Sunday confirmed that feasibility studies for the Addu City project, valued at MVR 30 million, are currently underway. The minister highlighted that the Waqf project would eliminate the need for the government to spend on the repair and maintenance of Addu City mosques and to conduct other Islamic activities in the area.
The Waqf building project will also include the construction of Waqf buildings in Male’ and Hulhumale. Plans for the "Dar al-Salam" Waqf building in Hulhumale’ are also in progress, with the minister previously noting that it will be the largest Waqf building in the Maldives. Another project, “Dar al-Argam” is also set to launch in Male’.
