No one should believe that the Maldivians can be obstructed and stopped, the main opposition, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s President Abdulla Shahid has said.
Shahid made the statement in a social media post on the occasion of MDP’s 19th anniversary.
In his message, Shahid asserted that neither the Maldivians nor the MDP would passively accept any situation. Reflecting on the party’s 19 years of existence, he emphasized that this is the time for the MDP to stand firm for what they believe in.
“If anyone believes that Maldivians can be held back by lying, cheating and deception, they are mistaken,” Shahid said.
Shahid highlighted that the MDP symbolizes the hope of the people and stands as a beacon of vigilance and competitiveness in the political system. He added that the MDP is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all, fostering a blue economy, and promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle that protects future generations.
“The party aims to ensure that the principles of the holy religion of Islam and the characteristics of a modern democratic society are reflected throughout the state,” Shahid concluded.
