Environment Ministry’s State Minister Fathimath Shamnaz and her sister, who were arrested for allegedly performing black magic to become close associate of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, have been released.
During President Dr. Muizzu’s tenure as Male’ City Mayor, Shamnaz and her ex-husband, Minister at the President’s Office Adam Rameez, were among his closest aides. However, both Shamnaz and Rameez are currently suspended from their posts. Subsequently, Shamnaz and her sister were arrested on the black magic allegations on June 23.
A police media official stated that Shamnaz and her sister were released as there was no need to keep them in custody any longer.
“The police are actively investigating the case,” the official said.
