Pres Dr. Muizzu welcomes ICJ's advisory opinion for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian territories

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has welcomed the International Court of Justice (ICJ)'s advisory opinion calling for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian territories.

In a post on social media, President Muizzu expressed support for the ICJ's recommendation advocating for Palestine. He stated that Israel must immediately withdraw from the occupied territories and provide reparations for the damage caused by its exploitative and discriminatory actions.

The president's post also reiterated the Maldives' stance on the issue, noting that the ICJ's decree has renewed hope for a sovereign and independent State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ICJ's advisory opinion calls on Israel to abandon the occupied Palestinian territories and urges the withdrawal of Zionist settlers. The order highlighted that the continued construction of settlements on Palestinian lands by the Israeli government violates international law and could lead to legal consequences for Israeli authorities.
