Commissioner General of Customs Yoosuf Maniu Mohamed has been removed from his post, and replaced by Fathmath Dhiyana. This is the first time in Custom’s history that a woman has been appointed to head the agency.
Dhiyana was the Deputy Commissioner General of Customs up until her appointment today. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu handed over her letter of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.
The President's Office did not specify the reason for Maniu’s dismissal. Maniu has now been appointed as the State Minister of Homeland Security.
