Gov't intensifies efforts to recover state funds

The government has initiated measures to recover money owed to the state.

On Tuesday, Attorney General Ahmed Usham met with Auditor General Hassan Niyazi, officials from his office, and the heads of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to discuss their collaboration in this effort. The Attorney General's Office said the meeting focused on working together with the Auditor General and the ACC in recovering the state's funds, describing the initiative as a high priority for the government.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has consistently underscored the importance of reclaiming state funds in his policies. Speaking at a rally held by the ruling PNC on June 23, the President highlighted that the largest corruption case in the Maldives involved the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) during former President Abdulla Yameen's administration. He committed to investigating all such cases thoroughly, regardless of the involved individuals' status.

"There will be no opportunity for corruption, theft, or illegal activities. This is not about seeking revenge but about establishing justice through our established policies. Any necessary actions will be taken within the laws and regulations, regardless of the companies or individuals involved, including those from former governments," President Muizzu stated.
