Media Village to be established in STO hotel building in Hulhumale

The Maldivian government has announced plans to develop a media village in the State Trading Organization (STO) Hotel building located in Hulhumale. This initiative is part of a presidential pledge by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the Independence Day celebrations on Friday night, President Dr. Muizzu shared that the media village will provide studios and other essential resources for media outlets. The facilities, including office and studio spaces, will be offered to registered media at affordable rates.

The President also assured that as he has promised, the media will also receive funding from the state budget from next year.

“It will be available to [the media] in the same way that political parties receive funds from the budget,” he said.

President Dr. Muizzu emphasized his administration's commitment to transparency, stating that his office and all government agencies are responsive to information requests. He assured that there is no hesitation in providing the public with the information they seek. This is attested by the govenrment's eagerness to answer the public's questions at public forums, he added.
