Water service provided to 29 islands without billing: FENAKA

FENAKA Corporation has revealed that 29 islands were receiving water services to 29 islands without being billed when the current tgovernment took office. The information was disclosed by FENAKA’s Managing Director Mohamed Muaz Rasheed at a press conference held Thursday.

Speaking at the press conference, Muaz explained that lack of billing in these islands were due to various reasons. He highlighted that the absence of revenue from these services caused significant losses for the company, including inability to cover employee salaries.

Muaz said work with the Utility Regulation Authority (URA) has revealed that unlicensed islands are not billed. These islands were unlicensed during to incompletion of specific documentation. Muaz noted that failure to submit the necessary documents from contractors, particularly for RO plants installed by private companies, has prevented FENAKA from billing these services.

"FENAKA has to bear all these expenses. We have to provide water services even if we can’t change for it. When there is no billing, water usage tends to be unlimited,” Muaz said.
