A five-field indoor futsal complex is being developed in Hulhumale', Sports Minister Abdullah Rafiu has said.
Responding to an inquiry by Galolhu North MP Mohamed Ibrahim at Wednesday's Parliament session, Minister Rafiu said the futsal complex project is part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's "Week 14" vision. The minister confirmed that the project is proceeding at a fast pace.
Noting that a significant amount of people use the sports facilities in the Male' area, Minister Rafiu said the new futsal complex will help alleviate the congestion currently faced by sports facilities.
The minister noted that the former government carried out a project to build two futsal fields at Thaisey Koshi in Male'. While one of the fields has been developed by the Male' City Council with equipment provided by the current government, discussions are ongoing about constructing the second ground. The minister said the government will move forward with the project if land can be secured in collaboration with the city council.
