Bangladeshi accused of preparing food with cat meat arrested

A Bangladeshi man accused of using cat meat to prepare food for sale has been arrested.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Arfat Hossain, was taken into custody by police at 10:32 am today.

The arrest follows the circulation of a video on social media, where Arfat is interviewed by a local while holding a plastic bag. In the video, recorded near the Marry brown area in Male' where a large number of cats can be found, Arfat claims the bag is used to carry cats to his home.

A video showing the inside of Arfat's residence has also been posted, showing a small, dingy room dedicated to food preparation. In the video, it is stated that neighbors reported hearing cats crying in the area, and cat remains were allegedly found inside the house.
