Police policies have been changed such that members of the public will encounter a police officer every five minutes in the Male’ region.
Providing information on police efforts in the Greater Male’ Area, CP Shujau said police policy change comes in response to a rise in accidents in the city.
"It is now a policy of the police service that anyone on the streets of Male’ will see a police officer within five minutes of travel. We are working to make that a reality,” he said.
CP Shujau said 360 more recruits are currently undergoing training and will soon join the frontline to help achieve the goal.
Additionally, the police senior management has decided to increase the number of frontline officers across the country, including senior officers.
