MP Siyam to provide free medical treatment for B. Kamadhoo residents

Prominent businessman and Meedhoo MP Ahmed 'Sun' Siyam has decided to provide free medical treatment for the people of Baa Kamadhoo.

Speaking to AVAS, Kamadhoo Council's President Hassan Zareer said the council had initiated discussions with Siyam's 'Sun Siyam Care' program, resulting in an agreement to provide financial assistance to the people of Kamadhoo to seek medical treatment locally and internationally.

"Some residents receive Aasandha [Maldives' national health insurance] but can't afford the additional expenses required [for travel and stay], while others need treatments not covered by Aasandha. Siyam is stepping in to assist these people under specific policies," Zareer explained.

Kamadhoo has a population of about 560. Zareer said if a Kamadhoo resident requires assistance from Sun Siyam Care for medical treatment, they must fill out a dedicated form and submit it to the council along with supporting documents. The council will then facilitate the assistance from Sun Siyam Care.

When asked about Siyam's motivation for this initiative, Zareer suggested that Siyam's decision might be driven by his role as a prominent politician and businessman who has a history of helping others.

“It is difficult for me to say whether there was any other motive behind it,” Zareer added.

Zareer added that Sun Siyam does not have any business in Kamadhoo at the moment and he has not received any offer from Siyam to do business in Kamadhoo.

When asked when Siyam last visited Kamadhoo, Zareer said he last visited the island during the last presidential election and has had a close relationship with the council since then.

Sun Siyam Care has decided to provide free medical treatment to the people of Kamadhoo amid circulating rumors on social media that Siyam is set to marry a young woman from Kamadhoo. The Kamadhoo Council declined to comment on the rumors.
