Over 3,300 foreigners deported since Nov '23

A total of 3,322 foreigners have been deported from the Maldives since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took office in November 2023.

According to the Maldives Immigration, 257 locations have been raided so far since the current administration took over, under efforts to identify foreigners violating rules and regulations.

Among those deported are those who were living in the Maldives without a valid visa, those who were engaging in work other than the purpose for which they obtained their visas, those who lived without valid documentation, and those who violated the laws and regulations of the country.

The Immigration Department has formed a special task force to identify illegal foreigners in the Maldives. The efforts have now been broadened with several other government agencies now involved in the operation. Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihsan and the Immigration Controller Mohamed Shamaan Waheed have repeatedly assured that the problem of foreigners faced by the MAldives will be resolved within the next three years.

President Dr. Muizzu's efforts to resolve the issue of foreigners have been welcomed by the public.
