FDC flats to be handed over by July 2025

The 4,000 flats being built under the Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme in Hulhumale’ will be handed over by July next year, according to Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC).

Sharing the latest information on the flats with AVAS, FDC’s Managing Director Hamdhoon Shakeel said the structures of 24 of the 32 towers scheduled to be built under the housing scheme has been completed, with work on the remaining towers ongoing. The construction of the flats are being handled by two Indian companies, KPIL and NBCC.

Hamdhoon said eight towers of the towers being built by KPIL is expected to be handed over to FDC during this month, with the remaining five expected to be handed over in January 2025. Meanwhile, two towers by NBCC will be handed over this year and the rest is set to be handed over next year. The final tower will be handed over by July 2025, as per the agreement and schedule, he said.

Currently, finishing and MEP works are underway. Upcoming works connecting the towers to STELCO’s power grids, and electricity wiring works and water and sewerage works.

Hamdhoon spoke about the recent re-assignment of FDC as a subsidiary under Housing Development Corporation (HDC) instead of operating as a separate entity. He assure that the project’s progress will remain unaffected by the change.

Earlier, Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haidhar told the Parliament that the final list of flat recipients will be publicized in October. Referring to the statement, Hamdhoon said he is confident this timeline would be met, and that FDC is providing administrative assistance to the ministry.
