More than 158 kilograms of drugs have been seized from January to August this year, police said.
According to statistics released on Sunday, law enforcement seized drugs weighing 158.84 kg from January 1 to August 31 this year, during 113 operations conducted during this period. These operations resulted in 8,554 searches and 712 arrests.
In response to the growing drug problem in the Maldives, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government has declared drugs a threat to national security and launched special operations targeting drug-related crimes.
