Maldives and WHO launch strategic plan

A strategic plan for collaboration between the Maldives and the World Health Organization (WHO) has been officially launched.

The plan was launched by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and WHO's Regional Director for Southeast Asia Saima Wazed. The plan will be in effect from this year until the end of 2029.

The Health Ministry outlined five key priorities under the new plan. These include further strengthening the healthcare system, investing in the advancement of basic healthcare, ensuring access to health services for those who have difficulty accessing them, addressing the intersection of health with social, economic, and business issues, and creating a health system that can effectively respond to challenges and emergencies.

The Health Ministry emphasized that the purpose of such a plan is to ensure that everyone has equal access to healthcare without discrimination. WHO has pledged to provide full support and cooperation to implement the plan.
