A total of 43 airlines from 23 countries currently fly to the Maldives.
According to the statistics released by the Tourism Ministry, 23 countries have direct flights to the Maldives as of November 20. At the end of October, a total of 43 airlines were flying to the Maldives.
A total of 1.77 million tourists have arrived in the Maldives as of November 20. Two million tourists are expected to visit the Maldives this year, an increase of 9.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
Arrivals from the top ten source markets were as follows:
China - 246,500 tourists
Russia - 198,900 tourists
UK - 154,400 tourists
Germany - 137,500 tourists
Italy - 120,700 tourists
India - 108,300 tourists
United States - 59,300 tourists
France - 46,800 tourists
Spain - 41,800 tourists
Switzerland - 35,400 tourists
Of these, eight countries operate direct flights to the Maldives. The United States and Spain do not offer direct flights to the Maldives.
There are currently 1,242 tourism facilities in the country. These include 171 resorts, 903 guesthouses, 154 safaris, and 14 hotels.
