Dept. Env Minister sacked after filing court case against President's Office

Environment Ministry's Deputy Minister Mohamed Ragib Ahmed has been dismissed following his decision to file a constitutional case against the President's Office.

Ragib, a former judge, challenged the government's decision to grant city status to GDh. Thinadhoo in the High Court. He alleged that the city council had misled authorities by submitting false population data and supporting documents to obtain city status.

The case was filed by Ragib despite a prior High Court ruling prohibiting political appointees from advocating against the state. The earlier ruling was issued when Ragib represented a man convicted of child sexual assault against the state.
