State Minister Mughunee sacked for calling Pres Solih a thief

Environment Ministry's State Minister Hassan Mughunee has been sacked for making derogatory comments about the president on public platforms.

Mughunee had posted a tweet on his Twitter account in which he referred to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as a thief and accused him of leading a group of corrupt individuals lacking the competence to manage a company. The tweet was subsequently deleted. Following his actions, Mughunee was summoned to the President's Office and advised on his behavior.

The President's Office has confirmed Mughunee's dismissal without specifying the exact reason.

Mughunee initially held the position of Managing Director of STELCO through a slot provided for the JP party. He later served as State Minister in the Environment Ministry from March 1 of last year until his termination.

Mughunee is an advisor to JP's leader, Qasim Ibrahim.
