President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reassured that his administration has no plans of dissolving Women's Development Committee (WDC)s. He made the statement while meeting with AA. Ukulhas Council and WDC, as part of his ongoing tour of several islands in Alif Alif and Kaafu atolls.
Responding to a question from a Council member, President Dr. Muizzu said the government desires to further empower the committees instead of dissolving them. However, he did not provide further information on the subject.
The meeting highlighted the pressing needs of Ukulhas residents. The island council shared their concerns over housing challenges faced by the island and informed the president of the need to expand school facilities The council also noted the importance of protecting the island's shores from erosion.
