The Parliament's Independent Institutions Committee has approved the appointment of Mariyam Insha Faisal as a member of the National Integrity Commission (NIC).
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu nominated Insha for the post last month, seeking parliamentary approval. Insha's appointment was subsequently unanimously approved with the support of all members present at the deciding committee meeting.
Insha, who holds a degree in law, has previously served as an investigator at NIC.
NIC, established in 2015, is responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct by personnel from Maldives Customs Service, Maldives Police Service, Maldives Correctional Service, and Immigration.
