President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has proposed Fuwad Thaufeek, the former President of the Election Commission (EC), for the role of Maldivian Ambassador to Thailand.
The Parliament today referred the nomination to its Foreign Relations Committee for consideration.
Fuwad completed his term as an EC member on November 23. He has served two terms on the five-member commission.
In a related development, the Parliament's Independent Institutions Committee Sunday approved the dismissal of three current members of the EC.
