President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the water and sewerage system of Hoan’dedhdhoo island, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The service was inaugurated by the President during his ongoing visit to Huvadhu Atoll.
The project was commenced during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, with US$ 4.9 million in funding from India’s Exim Bank under a line of credit. The project was carried out by Triveni Engineering and Industries Limited.
The scope of the project included establishment of five pump stations, sea outflow, setting up the water and sewerage pipeline network across the island, and pipework connection. The installation of two RO plants with the capacity to produce 75 tonnes of water per day and two storage tanks were also part of the project.
