State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) is preparing to send monthly electricity bills within one day of recording meter readings.
In an interview with state media, STELCO’s Managing Director Hussain Fahmy said the change aims to reduce public confusion and improve efficiency. While previously, bills were sent 20 to 25 days after readings are recorded, it caused confusion and misunderstandings about billing periods.
"For example, when we send a monthly bill, some customers assume it covers the past 20 days, when in reality, it reflects usage from an earlier period,“ Fahmy explained.
Fahmy assured customers that STELCO bills after generated based on accurate meter readings. He emphasised that there is no manipulation on the billing process.
