Maldive Gas to seek legal action against Dubai-based company

Maldive Gas is preparing to pursue legal action against Dubai-based Jaksha Energy for failing to supply gas despite being paid an advance.

Maldive Gas said it paid $240,000 as advance payment to Jaksha Energy for 30 percent of a gas shipment in October last year. The shipment of gas was not received within the stipulated time and the Dubai company has not refunded the advance despite several talks with the supplier.

Maldive Gas said it is working to take legal action against the company. Maldive Gas also confirmed that while the shipment was not delivered, no fraud was involved in the transaction.
