One arrested or violating Monicon order

Home Minister has ordered the arrest of an individual, currently on the monicon system, for violating the terms of the system. Under the powers granted to Home Minister, Mohamed Mafaaz Hussain Saleem (18) of G. Shaaraaz was arrested.

A total of 14 had been tagged under the monicon system. Mafaaz is the first individual to have violated the terms and placed under arrest among the 14.

Home Minister had previously stated that those under monicon system was abiding by their terms.

While Mafaaz had been placed under arrest, separate instances of gang violence had taken place in Male' last night and the night before.

Those individuals tagged under the monicon system, are required to be at home between 8 pm and 6 am and have to provide information on who are and will be living with the individual under monitoring. Additionally, the individuals will not be allowed to leave the country before permission from the Ministry and their movements will be restricted from the areas specified in the order. The individual's finances and communications will be under surveillance, they will have to regularly report to the Police. They will be will outfitted with the tag and their movements will be tracked round the clock. In addition, photos of the individuals and their homes will be taken for documentation.
