Home Minister Umar Naseer has ordered to tag gang leaders who had been involved in the recent spate of gang violence across the capital.
Speaking to Vnews, Home Minister Umar said the gang members who had taken part in the violence had been arrested and that he had instructed Police to begin proceedings on issuing monicon orders.
Minister Umar assured that no party will be allowed to disrupt the peace, adding that strict action will be taken against known gang leaders and perpetrators. He said the monicon will be issued on those persons.
Minister said the system is fully functional and that no person under surveillance had been arrested.
Those individuals tagged under the monicon system, are required to be at home between 8 pm and 6 am and have to provide information on who are and will be living with the individual under monitoring. Additionally, the individuals will not be allowed to leave the country before permission from the Ministry and their movements will be restricted from the areas specified in the order. The individual's finances and communications will be under surveillance, they will have to regularly report to the Police. They will be will outfitted with the tag and their movements will be tracked round the clock. In addition, photos of the individuals and their homes will be taken for documentation.
So far monicon orders have been issued on over 20 individuals.
