Eydhafushi island of Baa Atoll has claimed a historic victory in the Gold Cup 2024, defeating Addu City in the finals.
The match, held at the Galolhu Stadium in Male’ with over 4,000 spectators, was won by Eydhafushi with a score of two to zero. The first goal was scored by Mohamed ‘Faattey’ Fasir, a first division player, scoring the goal from a corner kick by Hamza ‘Hampu’ Mohamed. The second goal was scored by Ali ‘Sentey’ Fasir in the 90th minute, stealing opportunity while Addu defenders were focused on Hamza.
The win is a noteworthy achievement in Eydhafushi’s football history.
Prior to the match, the tournament’s trophy was introduced by Maldives legendary footballer, Ali ‘Dhagandey’ Ashfaq.
