- Tiny and affordable computer that can be used to learn programming
- Allied donated 30 kits
- Two classes to be conducted
Allied Insurance has donated 30 kits of Raspberry Pi to Ghiyasuddin International School on the occasion of Children's Day, to foster programing skills in schools.
The kits were handed over to the school's Managing Director Ahmed Ameel. School Principal Thoha Saleem accepted the kits on behalf of the school.
The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card–sized single-board computers developed in the United Kingdom by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intent to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries.
Allied Insurance Manager Marketing Niushad Shareef said the kits will assist students in developing and further strengthening their programing skills.
"With this they will gain an additional skill set, when they go to the work place," Niushad said.
Deputy Principal Aishath Shirumeena Faheem said the school will be able to conduct two classes from the kits donated by Allied Insurance.
"We can conduct classes for grades one, two and three from the kits," Shirumeena said.
Ghiyasuddin School is the only school in the country conducting a robotic program.
