Local Government Authority (LGA) has said the MDP statement released yesterday regarding the dismantling on various Party branches was erroneous.
A statement released by LGA today said the locations of these branches were in public spaces and that they had been receiving complaints with regards to these branches. The statement added that the Housing Ministry had instructed LGA to inform the political parties to vacate such premises within a 20 day period. The instruction was issued on December 10 last year.
The statement added that following the notice, LGA had given a 30 day period effective from December 16 to vacate the premises. The statement noted that some Councils had cleared the premises on their own accord. However, most Councils had refused to comply in spite of the many notices issued. LGA added that the Councils had begun to implement the instructions with the assistance of Police.
LGA further condemned the MDP statement, which had claimed that no prior notice was given prior notice.
