Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has revealed that last year, they had spent MVR 8.6 million out of the MVR 11.6 million received by the Party last year. Publishing the annual financial statements of all political parties for the previous is legally mandated under the Political Parties' Act.
Statements published today said the Party had spent MVR 2.7 million on the Party's nation wide "Insaafuge Dhathuru" campaign. MVR 1.8 million was spent on Party promotion, MVR 1.1 million was spent of salaries, while MVR 900000 was spent on rent for party's offices and headquarters.
Out of the MVR 11.6 million received by the Party last year, MVR 6.9 million was a contribution from the state.
Like in the previous year's, MDP's financial statements were audited by Ernst & Young. The company said there were no inconsistencies with the financial statements and had been in accordance with the accounting rules.
