MDP reiterates commitment to holding gov't accountable

The opposing Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Parliamentary Group has reiterated that the party will continue to do the needful to hold the government accountable.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Kendhoo MP and MDP Spokesperson Mauroof Zakir expressed concerns about delays in certain matters of public interest within Parliament. While the MDP is working to address the delays, the situation can only be improved with the cooperation of the government and the ruling People's National Congress (PNC), which has a supermajority in parliament, he said.

“We assure you that we will continue to hold the government accountable,” he said.

Hithadhoo South MP and MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Nazil also echoed concerns about the postponement of some parliamentary work.
