May earnings increase 50 percent over estimates

The earnings for last month had increased 50.8 percent compared to the estimates.

Estimates published by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) showed the Agency had collected MVR 1.14 billion. This is a increase of 19.6 percent compared to the same period one year back. This is also an increase of 50.8 percent compared to the estimates.

MIRA said GST accounted for the biggest contributor with MVR 550.8 million. MIRA had collected MVR 312 as Bank Profit Tax and MVR 75.1 million as BPT, while MVR 56.3 million was collected as Green Tax. Airport Service Charge accounted for MVR 42.2 million.

The MIRA statistics show that earnings for the first five months of the year had increased by 13.1 percent compared to the same period one year back. The first five months of the year the state had earned MVR 6.35 billion, with GST accounting for 45.1 percent of the earnings. BPT accounted for the second highest with 17.5 percent.
