Former Home Minister Umar Naseer has been dismissed from the PPM advisory council. The council was convened yesterday and Umar was dismissed after he had announced that he will be running for President in 2018 elections.
An urgent press release issued by the Party this evening stated that Umar was dismissed by Party President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom. The statement added that Umar was dismissed after he announced that he will run in the 2018 elections.
The council is composed of seven members in addition to Maumoon. The council was formed at a time when PPM had split into two camps. PPM PG held a press conference in Muleeaage, condemning Maumoon's actions, calling the council an illegal one.
