MNDF has begun spot checks of outbound vessels from Male', carrying passengers to various islands for the Eid holidays.
In these spot checks, MNDF will check the safety standards of vessels in order to ensure the passengers traveling on the vessels will be safe for the duration of travel. The checks will be carried out today and tomorrow.
MNDF said they will be checking if all vessels meet the requirements in the safety certificates and whether if the captain is a licensed operator.
Many vessels were checked as part of the program.
