Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Office has revealed that Dhiggaru Constituency MP Faris Maumoon cannot be voted out of the party yet. The statement was released today, in the form of a letter, addressed to the Ethics Committee.
The letter, signed by PPM's Deputy Secretary General Abdul Aleem was addressed to Ali Waheed of the Ethics Committee. The letter stated that, according to regulations, the issue must be raised officially through a form submitted to PPM Office - there have been no forms relating to the issue to date.
The complaint sent to the Ethics Committee, regarding MP Faris Maumoon, was raised by Parliamentary Group (PG) leader Ahmed Nihan Hussein Manik - which was in the form of a letter, rather than the required form, as pointed out by Aleem.
The letter released by PPM Office also states that, even though it has been said that the party has come to a decision regarding Faris Maumoon, there are no official documents - due to this, a final verdict cannot be made.
"PPM Office has received no official documents relating to the case that involves Faris Maumoon. Hence, we regret to inform you that a final verdict cannot be delivered in the absence of said documents (attendance sheet, minutes of meeting, etc.), along with the Committee's decision. Please forward these documents to our office in the nearest future," reveals the letter.
While the statement was released by PPM Office today, it appears the Ethics Committee has already requested the office to review their decision yesterday.
