Case against President Maumoon revoked

The case submitted to Civil Court by three parliamentary members belonging to Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM), stating PPM's council and committees have suspended Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, has been revoked. PPM has revealed that the case was revoked in order for amendments and further reviewing.

While the case has been taken to Civil Court, Maumoon has since given his permission to operate the committees and other branches of PPM. It has not been revealed whether or when the case will be resubmitted to the Court. Furthermore, a meeting of PPM's council has also been arranged.

"I believe that, as Maumoon has now given permission to operate the committees, it is redundant to resubmit the case," stated MP Shiyam in an interview given to Avas today.

Even though there are apparent disagreements within PPM, President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has asked to resolve these differences and divisions through discussions among all members of the party.
