The Minister has stated that the Ministry has already resolved to import materials/equipment required to implement a better functioning disposal unit in Malé.

Along with this, the Minister also stated a solution to a better waste management at Thilafushi is also being sought. The Ministry is already in works of providing an additional vehicle to carry waste to and from Malé, implementing a better waste treatment process in Thilafushi and developing more suitable waste grounds for temporary garbage storing.

"We are also currently in works to prevent all the smoke (from Thilafushi) citizens of Malé have to face and tolerate at the moment. This is an issue that is being looked into very seriously," said the Minister.

The Minister assures a better waste disposal unit will be established and the smoke issue will also be completely resolved by 2018.
