Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has ordered Football Association of Maldives (FAM) to reinstate dismissed Secretary General Bassaam Adeel Jaleel, on grounds that the dismissal was an illegal one.
A letter sent to FAM signed by FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura says that the Association "understood from various sources that apparently htere had been no meeting of the FAM executive committee when the decision to dismiss the general secretary was taken". FIFA said the decision was not compliant with FAM statues and instructed FAM to reverse the decision.
The letter also referred to the resignation of five members if the executive committee and stated that elections needed to be held.
