STO, Hemas partners up to supply medicine

State Trading Organization (STO) has partnered up with Sri Lanka's Hemas Pharmaceuticals to provide medication to the Maldivian market.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Hemas Director, Finance, AK Nisanka said the agreement with STO will bring in high quality medication to the market.

STO's Chief Finance Office Imad said the main aim of this agreement was to bring major pharmaceutical brands to the country easily.

"The pharmaceutical companies are giants. Maldives is a very small market. This makes it difficult to bring in medication. They need a minimum order commitment. But due to the market, we cannot do that. Due to this agreement, we can source these medications through Hemas," Imad said.

Hemas is one of the biggest pharmaceutical products providers. The company is listed one of the ten strongest companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

"We are associated with the largest pharmaceutical companies. We will be able to bring their products," Nisanka said.
