- Mercantile move was brought within 2 years
- Maldives is accomplishing great things without falling to slavery
- Companies like Ooredoo being present shows stability
Minister of Economic Affairs, Mohamed Saeed said that the Maldives has proved that a country can move forward and achieve great things without losing its freedom, religion or traditions.
In the ceremony held to commemorate Ooredoo being registered in the Maldivian stock market, Saeed said that President Abdullah Yameen has shown that a "Mercantile Move" has been established in the Maldives. And that no matter how small the country may be, Maldives can move forward without sacrificing their freedom.
"Moving forward in business, no matter how small our country is, and claiming our rightful place. Without sacrificing our believes or our traditions, upholding our fundamental rights and competing against other countries moving forward and giving the future generations a chance to sustain our country within an economic freedom, ensuring that would be our biggest success," Saeed said.
"The stability of our country today encourages companies like Ooredoo to go to a mercantile move. Bringing foreign investment to the Maldives, and increasing the investment of Maldivian businessmen and expanding their businesses is something to be thankful for," Saeed said.
The Minister also said that the investors themselves say that the sovereign credit rating of the Maldives increases the trust of investors. And that companies other than Ooredoo also getting listed on the stock market shows proof of great economic progress.
"The gift today by the government of Qatar is due to President Yameen's efforts to improve relations with Arab, as well as other close nations. The result of efforts made to empower the youth," Saeed said
