Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has has shared the decisions taken in the meeting with the Elections Commission. The decisions were agreed on at the Council meeting held by the former President.
PPM office has sent four different letters today to the elections commission. The first letter stated that a Secretary General was appointed yesterday at the council meeting. That council meeting saw former Deputy SG Aleem selected to be the new SG.
While Aleem was selected by the Maumoon faction to be SG, Abdulla Khaleel was selected to be the SG by the Yameen faction.
The second letter to the Elections Commission states that two of the three members selected by the President, Abdhu Raheem Abdulla and Zahid Rameez, were removed. The letter also says that as Abdhu Raheem was selected to be Deputy Leader by the council, his removal from the council vacates the Deputy Leader position.
And the letter said that approval to remove both those members was received from the council meeting held yesterday.
The third letter says that the two vacant seats in the council have been filled. The newly appointed members were Umar Naseer, and Ahmed Sofwaan. The letter also stated that both members got approval from yesterday's council meeting.
The last letter says that the council meeting held by the Yameen faction last night was not a legitimate one, as Party Council meetings can be called on only by the President. The letter said that last nights council meeting was not held under invitation from the President, and therefore the decisions taken in that meeting were void.
And the letter also said that the chief adviser of the party in no way has power over the party's decisions according to the guidelines. However, the President Yameen led Council meeting followed the ruling issued by the Civil Court.
