Ali Waheed was arrested and jailed due to the protests against the government on May Day. The statement released by MDP today states that Ali Waheed was jailed, and now charged with terrorism because the government is fearful of the role Ali Waheed played in inciting the protests held on May Day.
The president of Adhaalath Party Imran Abdulla was previously sentenced to 12 years in prison regarding the protests on May Day.
Ali Waheed is charged with terrorism because of his alleged role in encouraging the protesters to create disorder on May Day. It has been a month since this charge was filed in court.
Ali Waheed is currently residing in England. He has been living there since the past year, under the protection of the British government.
