SOF attends Court

Scores of Flair (SOF) has attended the court today for the case filed against them by Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), for the massive graft of MVR158 million. They attended the court session as the Court had decreed that a verdict will be announced even if the company fails to attend the hearing.

SOF is suspected to be the biggest company involved in the MMPRC fraud case. The case filed in Civil Court has asked the Court to recover the MVR 158 million as per the agreement made between the two parties as well an additional MVR 6.1 million released to SOF from the Corporation. MMPRC had filed suit to recover these amounts in a one off payment as well as to nullify the agreement made between the two entities.

The case was filed in Civil Court on 28th of August. The dispute resolution stage had failed to yield any results and therefore the case was sent for trial. The efforts of SOF to settle this case without going to trial by going the Civil Courts Dispute Resolution Division failed and while the case was sent to trial today, documents regarding the case have been exchanged.

MMPRC audit reports show that MMPRC had transferred around MVR 1 billion to SOF account. SOF is partly owned by Mohamed Allaam Latheef (Moho), a close associate of former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb. A red notice had been issued for his arrest by Interpol, after he fled the country following the explosion aboard the President's speedboat.

Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb and former MD of MMPRC Abdullah Ziyath had been sentenced guilty in the case.
