Bayern, R.Madrid to wear jerseys made from Maldives plastic waste

Adidas teams up with environmental organisation named 'Parley with the seas' to create a very special jersey to raise awareness about the pollution in the world's oceans.

This jersey will be made enitrely from plastic waste picked up from the oceans around the Maldivian seas. An inscription will be written on the neck of the jersey, reading 'For the oceans'. The purpose of this specially made jersey is to increase awareness and protest the rising pollution to the seas.

While Real is set to debut the jersey on November 26th against Sporting Gijon, the team's Brazilian defender Marcelo expressed a special connection with the cause the jersey stands for, reminiscing his time on the beaches of Brazil where he used to play football as a kid.

Bayern Munich midfielder and Spanish international football star Xabi Alonso also voiced his support for this joint effort by Adidas and 'Parley with the seas' saying "Every second breath we take coming from our oceans, it is really important that we do what we can to safeguard them." He also said that it is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness on this issue, and said that he believed this to be the start of something special.

This jersey can indeed be the start of something special, and with international sports icons taking a stand for this issue, the world will get a chance to realize how truly serious this issue is, not only for the fragile ecosystem of the Maldivian seas but for every ocean in the world.
