The competitiveness between preschools has increased since the government commenced privatization of schools. While preschool education is widely available in the Maldives, finding a school with modern facilities has been a difficulty for parents.
Parents naturally, seek a school which provides a modern education system within Islamic principles for their children at an affordable price. The rarity of such schools is a concern to parents when their kids reach a school going age.
'Iqra Private Limited' has brought forth such a curriculum to ease such concerns. The purpose of this curriculum is to introduce kids to science, English and mathematics through an encouraging environment, and providing kids with a basic Islamic education until they complete preschool. 'Iqra' has opened this curriculum to other schools as well providing an ideal opportunity for parents.
The 'Iqra' curriculum has a higher standard compared to the current curriculum assigned by Maldivian preschools. This curriculum offering an Islamic education as well as math, science, English and Dhivehi was compiled with the expertise of local and foreign experts -- approved by the education ministry.
"The purpose of 'Iqra' is to provide an Islamic education to children under a 21st century thinking process," Senior Manager of Development and Enterprise for 'Iqra', Hawwa Shiuna said.
The 'Iqra' curriculum is given out on a franchise basis to interested parties. The training for teachers and equipment for classrooms as well workbooks for the students will all be provided by 'Iqra' upon switching to the curriculum.
Shiuna explained that this is the most capable curriculum in the Maldives as 'Iqra' is a child friendly curriculum which provides a special emphasis on Islam. She states that the target of the 'Iqra' schools would be to establish the love for Islam in the students and provide a world class education to the students, all at an affordable price.
"The education provided by our schools is of an international standard with inclusion of modern apparatuses such as Lego education, Tiggly Toys and Osmo Gaming, all based on the 'Al-Burooj' and 'Iqra' Islamic curriculum. So any interested parties are open to come to us, it is an open opportunity for businessmen. We will set up playschool nurseries as well as junior and senior kindergarten educations for those who come to us," Shiuna said.
All schools under this franchise will receive worksheets needed for the entire and managerial aid as well as training for the staff. Equipment needed for the classrooms will also be provided.
