Tourist arrivals to the Maldives from India has risen past 50,000 this year.
Statistics from the Tourism Ministry show that 50,369 tourists have arrived from India by the end of last month. This is a 26.4% increase from last year's 39,848 tourists who arrived in the same time period.
While tourists coming in from India are increasing, the amount is predicted to be even higher next year. Many efforts are being undertaken by the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) and other entities in the tourism industry to increase the amounts of tourists coming in from India.
Maldivian airline, Mega Maldives has also begun direct flights between Male' and New Delhi as well as Mumbai. The national airline, Maldivian, is also working on connecting New Delhi and Mumbai to the Maldives.
