Two ground handling staff were injured Sunday after an army helicopter crashed into an air-stair at Velana International Airport (VIA).
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the two staff were being treated at the Hulhumale Hospital but the extent of the injuries remain unclear.
According to eyewitnesses the two were hit by flying debris after the helicopter's rotor blades struck the air-stair during landing.
The injured duo were reportedly on the air-stair during the accident.
The helicopter had arrived from Gaaf Alif Villingili island carrying a patient.
MNDF said an investigation had been launched into the cause behind the accident.
